About CCF

The Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) is a non-profit conservation organization focused specifically on preservation of the cheetah and its natural habitat and restoring them to healthy, sustainable population sizes. Founded in 1990 by Dr. Laurie Marker, the CCF’s mission is,

“To be an internationally recognized centre of excellence in the conservation of cheetahs and their ecosystems. CCF will work with all stakeholders to develop best practices in research, education, and land use to benefit all species, including people”

with the vision,

“To a see a world in which cheetahs live and flourish in co-existence with people and the environment.”

The Cheetah Conservation Fund works to accomplish these through a variety of methods that not only focus on and benefit animals, but the local people as well, which is a major quality, among others, that sets the CCF apart in conservation. Extensive research, conservation programs, and education programs are all parts of the CCF’s daily work, which include many innovative programs such as the Livestock Guarding Dog program, the Bushblok program, and the Cheetah Country Beef program. The CCF works with local people who share land with cheetahs, educating them in “predator-friendly” living and farming, while at the same time working and collaborating on an international scale with organizations around the globe to further their goals, spread awareness, and gain support. The CCF is the holder of the International Cheetah Studbook and is in the continual process of creating a cheetah Genome Resource Bank, which contains much genetic information of cheetahs and could be crucial for conservation in the future. The CCF has made incredible progress in the cheetah’s race for survival and serves as a model for other cheetah conservation organizations as well as other conservation organizations around the world.
